Denver Llewellyn Robertson

EVANSTON – The funeral for Evanston resident Denver Llewellyn Robertson, 82, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 21; and one hour prior to service-time on Saturday.He died Oct. 18, 2005, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with illnesses incident to his age.  Born Nov. 9, 1922, in Robertson, he was the son of Sarah Elizabeth (Hysell) and Maxwell Park Robertson; was raised and educated in Bridger Valley; worked on the family ranch; and dreamed of becoming a rancher like his father and grandfather. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 during World War II and served in the Philippines and Japan.  After his honorable discharge, he returned home.On Dec. 21, 1946, he married Leola Louise Hayward in Evanston.  A carpenter by trade, he was often promoted to foreman on various jobs and traveled far from his family in Evanston.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and spending time in his yard.Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years of Evanston; three daughters and their husbands, Linda R. Zacharias of Wendover, Nev., and Peggy J. Lester and Denna L. Werner of Evanston; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and sister, Annie Hinshaw of Evanston.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Earl Park Robertson, Harold Maxwell Robertson, John Felix Robertson and Vern Robertson; and a sister, Bernice Keyes.

James Sr. and Sarah Burton Overy Family Photograph

James and Sarah were my Great Great Grandparents on my Mothers side of the family.  Their daughter Martha Overy Hysell was my Great Grandmother who I use to visit when my Great Grandfather Denver and Martha lived in Evanston, Wyoming.  Martha was the oldest child in the picture, standing behind her Father, James Sr.
